Tear-Shaped Flower Bouquets

Tear-Shaped Flower Bouquets
These wedding bouquets get their name from their resemblance to an inverted drop of water. This type of bouquet is especially flattering for the female figure and complements the contours of a long dress. They are usually held at the bride’s waist.
Tear-shaped wedding bouquets have their own distinct features:
-
They emphasize the body’s shape;
-
Their flowing lines match the proportions of a long gown;
-
They have an elegant appearance due to their size and grandeur;
-
They are very versatile, thanks to the arrangement, colors, and variety of flowers and accessories.
There are three main types of tear-shaped wedding bouquets:
-
Cascading “Waterfall” Bouquet
-
Decorative Wedding Bouquet
-
“Spider” Bouquet
Cascading “Waterfall” Bouquet
This bridal bouquet looks stunning when paired with a train and long veil. Traditionally, it included mostly roses and carnations, but nowadays orchids and freesias are also arranged in it, as they maintain their decorative effect even when hanging.
Lilies and gladioli are also used, with individual flowers reinforced with wire to form separate elements. Greenery such as ivy or boxwood can be added. During arrangement, flowers and leaves are positioned and attached with wire above the middle of the bouquet, with the wire anchored at the base.
Decorative Wedding Bouquet
The flowers in this bouquet should be sturdy and fresh and can be of different types. Arranged with contrasting colors and greenery, modest garden flowers, exotic blooms, or potted plants may also be included. The bouquet can be made in several ways: using natural flowers bent and tied with raffia, or using natural flowers with long and short stems, where the shorter flowers are wired and placed at the base.
“Spider” Bouquet
The name comes from its resemblance to a spider’s shape. It features a dense, firm core from which elegant lines extend outward. Large flowers like roses, carnations, anemones, and lilies are used in the center, while smaller flowers and leaves, such as hyacinths and lilies, form long, narrow lines—the “spider legs.” Ivy is often used as greenery. During preparation, small flowers and leaves wired individually are arranged in lines of varying lengths within the bouquet.
